Black & white photography has a long past, a living present and a bright future. Its simplicity still fascinates thousands of photographers that seek stylish and timeless photos. 

LISBON PHOTO and MIGUEL HELFRICH will help you see the world in black & white and how to create impressive photos.

All types of cameras are welcome –  DSLR, Hybrid, Compact including Smartphones, as long as they allow to photograph in black & white mode.

The street action, the weather (sun, clouds, rain) will define the day. We will have to adapt ourselves to the environment conditions, which makes a street workshop the best way to learn photography.

Some topics we will go through:

• Explore your camera – body, lenses & menus
• Explain “Histogram” applied to B&W
• Clearly explain the exposure triangle – time/aperture/iso
• Improve your composition skills as well (this is important)

The main purpose is to put our hands into practice, shooting, analysing, then correcting.

We will stroll the streets of Lisbon in the pursuit of contrast – this is the key factor to photograph in black & white. Depending on weather, we may stay downtown or go to Oriente to do a different kind of composition.
